We will build on the dedicated efforts and pioneering spirit of the Company's forerunners while stiving to help create a better world and healthier environment.
UACJ Corporation was established on October 1, 2013, as a major global aluminum product manufacturer through the merger of Furukawa-Sky Aluminum Corporation and Sumitomo Light Metal Industries, Ltd., two competitors in Japan for more than a century. Over the past 10 years, the UACJ Group has grown as one of the world's leading integrated aluminum product manufacturers by welcoming new companies to the Group and taking on fresh challenges.
Our management also made some tough decisions during this time, such as rationalizing production and executing structural reforms. I am sincerely grateful to all of the Group's employees for their collective efforts to accomplish these initiatives with a strong team spirit. I would also like to thank customers, shareholders, investors, business partners, and the communities where we operate for helping us reach the milestone of our 10th anniversary.
Along with our 10th anniversary, 2023 marks the 125th year since flat-rolled aluminum manufacturing began in Japan. This long history pioneered by our forerunners is presented in the “125 Years of History” section of this website. All kinds of aluminum products are used by people in their daily lives today, of course, but I hope you read this special feature to look back on their roots.
As stated in Our Purpose, we aim to “contribute to society by using raw materials to manufacture products that enhance prosperity and sustainability.” Accordingly, the UACJ Group will strive to help people thrive and lighten environmental impacts over the next century.
For the UACJ Group to play a vital role in ensuring a sustainable planet 100 years from now, I believe we must maintain our strong commitment to society as a whole. Therefore, we will continue building on our forerunners' dedicated efforts and pioneering spirit as manufacturers to help create a better world and healthier environment.
