New Battery Foil Production Facility at Ruyuan Dongyangguang UACJ Fine Aluminum Foil Co., Ltd.

Ruyuan Dongyangguang UACJ Fine Aluminum Foil Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the UACJ Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Miyuki Ishihara), announced its decision to build a new battery foil production facility and expand its scale of business.

In China, demand for automotive lithium-ion batteries is expected to increase for automotive lithium-ion batteries, spurring a sharp rise in demand for aluminum battery foil. In response to this demand growth, Ruyuan Dongyangguang UACJ Fine Aluminum Foil Co., Ltd. is conducting capital investment, constructing a structure for the integrated production of foil stock, current collectors and foil for battery exteriors. As a result, the Group aims to provide a timely supply of high-quality lithium-ion battery foil within China. The Group will collaborate with Guangdong Hec Technology Holding Co., Ltd., to further expand its business in China.

With a third production base in China, the Group will establish a three-pronged global battery foil production system that will supplement its prior production bases in Japan and Malaysia and respond to diverse customer needs.

The new mid-term management plan the UACJ Group announced in May 2018 positions the automotive business as a growth field. Going forward, we will continue to concentrate investment of the Group’s management resources and work to bolster profitability.
