SMART stands for Sustainable Materials with Aluminum Recycle/Reduce/Replace Technology.
It expresses our hope to contribute to society in building a sustainable economy, leveraging the lightness and recyclability of aluminum.
Pursuing a low carbon and circular economy with customers
UACJ seeks to deliver the value of environmental impact reduction by using materials while serving as a heart to boost the circulation of aluminum.
In other words, we aim to build a sustainable future by using a circular supply chain that connects “arteries” and “veins” and provides environmental value through aluminum.
Reducing environmental impact by a mass balance approach
In October 2020, the Japanese government issued the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Declaration that aimed to build a decarbonized economy and achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In April 2023, UACJ launched “ALmitas+ SMART Mass balance” with certified emissions intensity, which is made possible by the management of primary aluminum produced with green energy and scrap collected in a closed loop, using the third-party-verified mass balance approach, to offer more choices to environment-conscious customers.
