Notice of Preliminary Plan to Increase Flat-Rolled Aluminum Production Capacity in the United States
Management
UACJ Corporation announced today that its consolidated subsidiary Tri-Arrows Aluminum Inc. (HQ: Louisville Kentucky; President: Henry Gordinier), a US-based manufacturer and seller of flat-rolled aluminum, has reached an agreement with Novelis North America Corporation (HQ: Atlanta, Georgia) to begin planning the expansion of manufacturing equipment at Logan Mill, which both companies jointly operate, in order to increase production capacity of flat-rolled aluminum.
In the United States, aluminum cans are increasingly being used for craft beer, energy drinks, and hard seltzers, sales of which have been rising in recent years, amid growing awareness of ethical consumption and the need to reduce plastic waste. Moreover, aluminum can manufacturers in the country have been announcing plans to expand their production facilities, and overall capacity is expected to increase by billions of cans over the next few years. Against this backdrop, demand for flat-rolled aluminum for beverage cans is projected to grow steadily.
The preliminary plan to expand Logan Mill’s production capacity has been initiated with a view to meet this growing demand, and aligns with the importance that UACJ places on its Rolled Aluminum Products business in the United States in its latest mid-term management plan, now underway. Looking ahead, Tri-Arrows Aluminum will aim to create practical opportunities for growth through the plan. Furthermore, while meeting the needs of customers, it will work to help reduce environmental impacts by supplying flat-rolled aluminum for beverage cans under the UACJ Group’s slogan, “Aluminum lightens the world.”
