UACJ (Thailand) Receives the Highest Level of Platinum at the Amata Best Waste Management Awards 2023
—Awarded Platinum and a Full Evaluation Score for the Fifth and Second Consecutive Years, Respectively—

UACJ Corporation (head office: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President: Miyuki Ishihara) announced today that its consolidated subsidiary, UACJ (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (head office: Rayong Province, Thailand; President: Kimitoshi Inagaki; hereinafter, “UACJ (Thailand)”) was awarded the highest level of Platinum*1 at the Amata Best Waste Management Awards 2023 from the Amata City industrial estate*2 where its manufacturing facilities are based. UACJ (Thailand) has now been awarded Platinum for the fifth straight year since first receiving it in 2019, and was also given a full score in its evaluation for the second consecutive year.
The Amata Best Waste Management Awards were established for the purpose of raising awareness and encouraging effective management of industrial waste in the Amata City industrial estates by publicly recognizing companies that apply the 3R principles (reduce, reuse, and recycle), reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, and effectively manage the waste they generate. A present, a total of 1,270 companies operate in the Amata City industrial estates. For the 2023 awards, inspectors evaluated the management of various types of waste between March and November 2023, and based on the scores, 94 companies were selected for the awards.

Adding to UACJ (Thailand)’s award-winning track record for a variety of environmental actions in Thailand, this latest Platinum award recognized the company’s steady progress in energy and water conservation activities and community building initiatives with local residents. UACJ (Thailand) also plans to further increase the solar power generation capacity of panels installed on the roof of its Rayong Works by early 2025. In recognition of these ongoing efforts, the company received the highest evaluation for the second consecutive year.
Encouraged by this award, the UACJ Group will continue working to help reduce environmental impacts and build good relations with communities in the regions where it operates in line with its mission to build a better world and healthier environment.

- *2 The Amata City industrial estates are comprised of the Amata City Rayong and Amata City Chonburi industrial estates, which currently host 1,270 companies. The Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate, where UACJ (Thailand)’s Rayong Works is based, is a vast complex covering about 27 square kilometers in the province of Rayong, located 114 kilometers from central Bangkok and 99 kilometers from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
