Commencing Sale of All-New FusPlate Thick Aluminum Alloy Plate

We have completely remade our FusPlate thick aluminum alloy plate, which we launched in 2009. Sales commenced on August 1, 2012.

Our original FusPlate was a semi-precision product that achieved an approximately 50% improvement over other thick plate (maximum 50 mm thick) in terms of residual stress, which affects flatness and warping from breaking and cutting work. In addition, the guaranteed level of thickness tolerance is one-half to one-third better than that stipulated under Japan Industrial Standards. It has a more user-friendly price than our FP52 (Furukawa-Sky Precision Plate 5052) high-end, high-precision thick plate, and gets high marks from customers. Major applications include semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment, solar panel manufacturing equipment, medical and optical equipment and various types of molds. Furukawa-Sky’s share of the Japanese market for thick plate products, including FusPlate, is about 50%.

With the all-new FusPlate, we offer a guaranteed flatness about 80% better (for 50 mm thickness and under) than general thick sheet, with a guaranteed thickness tolerance up to 1/5 better than the JIS standards. The new version reflects the desire of clients for lower materials and material processing costs by eliminating the need for distortion calculations during material processing, ensuring plate thickness precision during machining, and reducing procedures for correcting distortion. It comes at a maximum thickness of 100 mm, with a price equivalent to our general thick plate, making it even more user-friendly.

Our next brochure will include the new FusPlate, and we plan to bolster our sales in the growing semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment, solar panel manufacturing equipment, and medical and optical equipment fields.
