2006 President Message

January 4, 2006

We wish all of our stakeholders health, happiness and prosperity during 2006.

I have set this year's slogan to "Leaping forward to become a genuine leader," even though this is the one thing we have repeatedly stated in the past, as a way of expressing our renewed commitment to this challenge along with taking the new step of being listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

We will continue to exert unrelenting efforts to enhance the corporate value and meet the expectations of our stakeholders (our customers, employees, business partners, shareholders, society and creditors), especially of shareholders who are newly regarded as our stakeholders, while fulfilling our responsibility to society as well.
These goals are considered to be an integral part of our management principles and we seek to implement them in all of our corporate activities. Furthermore as outlined in article four of our management principles, we seek "to maintain a high standard of ethics in our corporate activities, ensure that we are in compliance with the law, and to always maintain the objective of being a virtuous company."

In the Sheet Manufacturing Division, we seek to raise our competitive standing by centralizing our production activities in our plants in Fukui, Fukaya, and Nikko, and by leveraging the strengths at each of these respective plants.

In the Extrusion, Casting and Forging Division, we seek to strengthen our positioning in the global market by expanding our business in various parts of the world.

In the Processed Products Division, we will continue to provide our customers with high value added products which are energy saving, environmentally friendly, safe, and IT compliant.

Another goal we seek to implement over the intermediate term to the fiscal year 2009 is to make our production facilities even cleaner and reduce their environmental burden. By promoting the switch to LNG in all of our factories, we will be able to reduce our carbon dioxide output and our energy consumption, and to make our plants even more responsible to society.

Additionally we strive to improve our workplace by promoting the safety and comfort of our employees. As part of our "5S" initiatives, we have increased the number of restrooms and lounge areas, and implemented improvements in our offices, cafeterias, and waiting rooms, in addition to fortifying our research and development facilities.
