February 9, 2010

Furukawa-Sky will exhibit at BATTERY JAPAN-1st International Rechargeable Battery Expo, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 3 to 5, 2010, in collaboration with Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and Nippon Foil Mfg. Co., Ltd.

Although this event marks the first International Rechargeable Battery Expo, it will be the largest exhibition event in the world focused on rechargeable batteries, with 250 Japanese and overseas companies scheduled to exhibit and 15,000 visitors anticipated. Concurrent shows include FC EXPO 2010-6th International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo, the world's largest fuel cell exhibition; PV EXPO 2010-3rd International Solar Cell/Module Technology Expo, the largest solar cell/module exhibition in Asia; PV SYSTEM EXPO-1st International Photovoltaic Power Generation System Expo gathering all kinds of devices and materials technologies for PV system installation; and the 1st Processing Technology Expo For Renewable Energy Industry, specializing in the mass production and prototype production of renewable energy equipment.

Furukawa-Sky launched a battery project team in November 2009 to develop the world's top aluminum foil stock and foil products. The team supports the expansion of demand for rechargeable batteries in every industry through the development of excellent aluminum foil and continuous quality improvement. In regard to the use of rechargeable batteries, the team has been conducting research and development beyond simply focusing on materials to encompass heat management technology, since the various sources of heat generation represent a key challenge to the application of rechargeable batteries.

Products to be exhibited include: the EN Series battery case, precision extrusion-related products, heat sink and cooling products, and other Furukawa-Sky products; electrolytic copper foil from Furukawa Electric; and aluminum foil and rolled copper foil from Nippon Foil Mfg. Co., Ltd.
