Coil Center Established in Thailand

February 24, 2010

Furukawa-Sky established a 100% owned company as a coil center near Bangkok, Thailand, on February 4, 2010, with the main objective of expanding the processing and sales of aluminum products for automotive heat exchangers. The new company will initially undertake the slit processing of coils supplied by Furukawa-Sky's manufacturing site in Japan and sheet rolling joint venture in China, and eventually expand its operations to meet customer needs.

Demand for automobiles in Southeast Asia and India is expected to show significant growth. Furukawa-Sky intends to respond proactively to growing demand for rolled aluminum products used in automotive heat exchangers and other applications and to develop new customers through direct operations in the region.

Furukawa Sky will also seek to respond to the diverse aluminum material needs of customers in the region by strengthening sales in conjunction with extrusion products manufactured by its Indonesian joint venture, PT Furukawa Indal Aluminum Co., Ltd. (President: Akinori Yoshida; capital: US$4 million; established March 1998).
