Use of FUSCOAT Pre-Coated Aluminum Sheets in Servers

The FUSCOAT LUBERS series of highly-conductive pre-coated aluminum sheets have recently been adopted for use in server cabinets and insertion panels.

FUSCOAT is a multi-functional coating applied to aluminum surfaces. Applying this multi-functional coating to aluminum, which itself is a lightweight, highly heat-resistant and thermally conductive as well as highly recyclable material, creates products that meet a variety of needs. The coating is applied while the aluminum is coiled, so the quality can be more consistent and the layer thinner than when the coating is applied to individual products post-processing.

The FUSCOAT series product lineup consists of a variety of products that improve an array of functions, such as emissivity, reflectivity, formability, optical disc scratch prevention, and conductivity. One item in the lineup, FUSCOAT LUBERS, has been adopted for use in PC drive cases, because its conductivity provides the grounding they require.

FUSCOAT LUBERS highly-conductive pre-coated aluminum sheets that have been adopted for use in servers have been made in consideration of laser processability, which is newly in demand. By selecting the appropriate type of coating and coating thickness, the cutting plane, external appearance, and other aspects of the laser-processed part are successfully preserved. The degree of formability, conductivity, fingerprint resistance, and scratch resistance of previous products is maintained. Introduction of this product for use in many kinds of telecommunications servers is anticipated, and we expect that it will contribute to commercialization and cost reduction in a wide variety of applications.

Servers fitted with FUSCOAT LUBERS are slated for exhibition at the BATTERY JAPAN 2012 - 3rd Int'l Rechargeable Battery Expo to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 29 (W) through March 2 (F).
