UATH Signs MOU on Promoting the Closed-Loop Recycling of Aluminum Cans
—Strengthening Ties with Thailand’s Leading Can Manufacturing Group—
February 3, 2022
On December 7, 2021, UACJ (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (UATH), a consolidated subsidiary of UACJ Corporation, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with three companies to undertake a can-to-can, closed-loop recycling initiative. Other parties to the agreement were Thai Beverage Can Ltd. (TBC) [a leading Thai manufacturer of cans], Thai Beverage Recycle Co., Ltd. (TBR) [a container recycler that belongs to the Thai Beverage group], and Anglo Asia Trading Co., Ltd. (Anglo Asia) [which processes scrap].
The MOU is an example of UACJ’s efforts to promote can-to-can recycling in Thailand. Through this initiative, we aim to reduce our environmental impact by promoting the recycling of aluminum cans and building a business model that will benefit our customers, society, and ourselves in the ASEAN region. To date, we have fostered an understanding of closed-loop recycling by signing an MOU in December 2020 with government and industry officials and by conducting plant tours for these officials. The parties to the current MOU expect to conduct closed-loop recycling of approximately 100 tons per month.
Going forward, UACJ aims to continue strengthening mutual cooperation to promote the closed-loop recycling of aluminum cans in Thailand, as well as initiatives to realize a recycling-oriented society.
