In recent years, as electronic equipment become more compact providing higher performance, the problem of heat is becoming acute. As a way to solve this problem, use of pre-coated aluminum sheets is drawing attention. It is known that a coating film containing black additives has relatively good thermal radiation. However, detailed reports on the effects of resin type and black additives in coating films are few. Therefore, we studied in detail the effects of resin type and graphite in coating films on the heat radiating properties of pre-coated aluminum sheets. In this study, we found that the chemical structure of the resin in coating films is closely related with the spectral emissivity. In particular, the emissivity of polyester cured by melamine is good. It is possible for graphite to improve the emissivity over a wide wavelength range of 4.5-14.2μm. It was also found that an average particle size of 7.0μm of amorphous graphite is especially effective.
